The Beginning
Gossamer Security Solutions is a world class evaluation and consulting business specializing in IT security evaluation, testing, and consulting services. It was founded in 2012 by James Arnold, Tammy Compton, and Edward Morris – internationally recognized leaders in the IT security evaluation and cryptographic & security testing fields.
Gossamer immediately applied and became an NVLAP-accredited laboratory (NVLAP Lab Code: 200997-0) for ITST: Common Criteria Testing and later added ITST: Cryptographic and Security Testing to Gossamer’s NVLAP accreditation.
At the end of 2014, Gossamer was the newest NIAP-accredited Common Criteria Testing Laboratory and based on the year-end numbers for 2014, Gossamer came from behind to become one of NIAP’s highest performing laboratories in terms of evaluations completed in the current Common Criteria evaluation paradigm.
Our Growth
Originally located in Catonsville Maryland, Gossamer moved to a purpose-build, commerical laboratory space in Columbia, MD in 2019 to accomodate more equipment and more employees.
Since its inception, Gossamer has expanded its testing staff and its customer base year after year to become and to remain the most prolific source of Common Criteria product certificates in the United States. Moreover, Gossamer prides itself in its technical depth and also its level of performance based on many years of experience.
Gossamer has a staff of less then 30 engineers and yet it outperforms competing labs many times its size.
Meet the Founders
Quality System Director
James has over 35 years experience in analysis, evaluation, research, design, development, and application of secure information system technology. He has extensive experience in the use and development of evaluation criteria as well as related evaluation techniques and tools. James is an internationally recognized expert in the Common Criteria and its application, credited with over a dozen CC-related papers and presentations at the Internal Common Criteria Conference.
Common Criteria Testing Laboratory Director
Tammy has over 30 years experience in analysis, evaluation, research, design, development, and application of secure information system technology. With over twenty years with hands-on Common Criteria evaluation and consulting experience as Lab Director for an accredited Common Criteria Testing Laboratory, she serves as the primary point of contact between the evaluation lab and the evaluation Scheme. She also has extensive experience in evaluation techniques and tools as well as in leadership of technical teams.
Cryptographic and Security Testing Laboratory Director
Ed has over 25 years experience in Information Technology security (Cyber Security). He has extensive expertise with FIPS 140 validations as well as Common Criteria evaluations including planning, execution, management, and oversight. He also has extensive experience operating an IT consulting corporation (HR, accounting, IT infrastructure, PR, contracting, partnering).
